About
Nicole Caplain is a writer, editor, and educator based in New York City. A Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University, she holds an MFA in Fiction from Columbia University and completed her undergraduate work in English Literature at the University of Oxford.
Nicole ran the Writing Programs at The Center for Fiction, where she selected the long list for the First Novel Prize, and knows firsthand what elevates a manuscript to awards consideration. She has taught at Columbia, Stanford, and UC Berkeley.
Writers who work with Nicole describe the experience as rigorous and generative in equal measure. She works with novelists, story writers, and essayists at every stage, and with applicants to graduate programs, residencies, and fellowships. She has edited novels nominated for the National Book Award and coached early writers to their first publication deals.
